Established in 1994, Design of the Times is a
versatile firm whose scope of work ranges from personalized private
gardens to public botanical gardens.
Owner Greg Butler has been instrumental in the creation of the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden, leading the team that created the Master Plan. He then acted as Project Manager in the relocation of the Elda Behm Paradise Garden and the historic Seike Japanese Garden from the path of SeaTac Airport’s third runway. Greg also led the design teams for the Daylily and Iris displays, and the formal Rose Garden. For more about HSBG, visit their web site at www.highlinegarden.org. Greg has worked with the City of SeaTac on a number of planting designs within the SeaTac Parks system. Our residential work has run the gamut from formal Mediterranean-styled spaces to Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary gardens to woodland restorations to a cliff-side plant collectors’ paradise perched above Puget Sound. We utilize a dialogue with our client to ascertain their schemes and dreams, and then offer a range of approaches to installation, from coaching a client through a simple self-install to managing a variety of landscape professionals on larger projects. Greg also teaches the Landscape Renovation class at Edmonds Community College, and is a speaker for the Natural Yard Care program in King County and at the Northwest Flower and Garden show in February of 2008. We also offer a plant broker service, fine pruning, and graphic design. Greg is a graduate of the Horticulture Program at Edmonds Community College and the Landscape Architecture Program at the University of Washington.
